Journey from jalandhar to ubs

Journey from jalandhar to ubs

I grew up in Jalandhar city, also known as the sports capital of India, and moved to Gurgaon after spending 12 years of my life in Punjab. This sudden change was difficult for me to digest and it took some time for me to get used to Gurgaon. You always meet people with different mindsets but
knowing that your mindset is a decade behind the mindset of the society you are living in, it is a task to keep up. My schooling was done from Pathways World School, one of the finest in India, and it did help me to bridge the gap between the two mindsets. After schooling, I had to make a choice for my higher education and I wanted the best. Searching for colleges, I came across Universal Business School (UBS). This college fulfilled all my specifications such as international program, business orientation and to be located near a mega city.

My real journey started when I entered UBS. Studying in the beautiful Karjat valley, where you are living in the lap of nature, gave me ample amount of time to get to know myself more…And I did.
Surrounded by corporates in this institution, who come from different industries with a lot of experience,
I got the opportunity to groom myself in order to become the business leader I always dreamt of. The beautiful locality helped in encouraging me to get involved in meditation and the art of healing and today, I have completed the advanced level of Pranic Healing. 4 months ago, it was just a thought and now its a reality. Travelling in the local trains made me independent, staying with students from all over India made me culturally diversified, working in ELC ( A student led enterprise under UBS) made me developed my business acumen. From cleaning my own dishes to handling real life business situations, it has been a wonderful experience. My greatest achievement was when my mother said,”I sent them a boy and got back a man”.
When I was in Gurgaon, the surroundings made me who I was a year ago and when I moved to UBS, it was ME who worked towards all the changes that occurred in me in order to become a better man.

Life in a business school

After giving brain storming mid-term exams, I feel like winning a battle. It has been almost three months at UBS. Sitting in the balcony of my room my mind is running down the lane of my memories when I first came here.Three months back on this very same date I came at UBS, spell-bound by the scenic beauty of Karjat. At the backdrop of lush green hills and waterfalls is my college. Away from home, the lap of nature here, gave me a warm welcome.

Then, slowly as the days passed I came to know a lot of people from varied cultures. Classes started with a lot of CEOs coming and sharing their valuable insight of the corporate world. It was great to talk to so many people with work experience and learn from them. We all are a family here. Faculty here is very supporting and knowledgeable. Each student has been assigned a mentor for any kind of guidance, either related to career or to personal life. I am enjoying the learning through an innovative curriculum here with a lot of stress on digital media and personal branding.

It not only teaches us how to get into corporate world but also how to give back to the world. we do have cleanliness drives and various other CSR activities in collage so that with learning that how to make money we could also learn how to be responsible citizens. So on a whole it has been a great learning experience so far combined with fun and joy. The breathtaking nature’s beauty around just add to the experience of learning.

And now as the papers are over I look forward to have a great weekend which are generally fun at UBS.

If you want to be a CEO, learn from a CEO

Universal Business School, a place where freshers’ meet experienced. The fresh blood which is going to enter the corporate world requires proper guidance and mentors in order to be an upcoming business tycoon or CEO of a top most company. UBS is a place where I have an opportunity to learn about various leadership qualities, and I started in building these qualities in me.

Here we don’t get only theoretical knowledge but also learn practically. Being a part of Experiential learning corporation is one of the biggest example of practical learning in UBS. Economics is taught by a professor having an experience of 25 years in Reserve Bank of India. Global business is taught by a professor doing imports and exports for thirty years. This is the quality of faculty we have here to teach us how to be successful managers in our lives. It is a place that promises to fulfil the gap between aspiring business professionals and the real business world. UBS opens up the door to acquire internationally accredited master’s degree.

Best faculty a student can ask for, from IIMs, and various big companies in the nation. Being the top business school in association with Cardiff metropolitan university creates a unique international flavour, an English campus in India that gives students a great exposure along with opportunities to get placed in leading companies of the world. There are many great things in UBS like huge academic resources; very big library, global trading room, faculty having experience of over 20 years. Every week there is a guest lecture conducted in the college so we stay connected with the corporate world. Being in UBS is a life time experience.

Universal Business School – Spelling Success

All along our school days and growing-up years, we are always waiting for something to happen. For becoming an adult. For Friday to come. For falling in love. For summer. For monsoon. For rainbows. For making our dreams come true . For breaking Free. We were always hoping for something new, something better. We get this thrill in letting life blow our mind away in its flow, not knowing where the next turn starts. But well, “ Best things in life happen unexpectedly! ” I never got the depth and trueness of this phenomena of life until it struck me that I was springing around over the valley of my dreams, before I even realised .
How I got there, was a strange story. But luckily I did.
Some time back, I hadn't thought of it in my wildest dreams. Just like any other fresh-out-of-high school-pampered-little-teenager, I was chirping in my own pink bubble, least bothered what on Earth was coming next. The much awaited and longed for college days, which we all dreamt as kids as the fancy haven of showing off and having fun were about to start. I had a sea of opportunities in front of me. But I just stared at it blankly. Generally if you give multiple options to someone, they get the pride and power to choose whatever is the best short cut to their success . It is easier to be just another face in the crowd . But I was different . With so many options, I would rather mix up every other choice with something more and come up with what might not be in the menu!! So, instead of thinking what to choose , which would be another endless discussion in my brain nerves, I started thinking what I, as an evolving mind, am actually looking for.

It made me ponder ..
According to what I was shown in movies and whitewashed media, college was all about smiles and fun and friends and laughter and parties and dancing and everything that makes us feel like we've “ grown ” now. It is about feeling free and bridging the gap between our naive childhood and passionate new life . But then , how many of us are actually “ growing up ” or breaking “ free ” from our walls in this transitional phase of life ?
I realised , growing old is implied ,  but growing up is optional .
This phase is a stepping stone to a whole new you… where we finally come out of our training course for life and enter the real field. Now is the time your shielding shell is opened up to show you a whole new world out there . To give you a reality check. Rather than make you more allured with a fascinating but blinding glamour of a materialistic life .
I realised I do not have to choose the best college building standing in town , but the best metamorphosing platform . To go through my own metamorphosis .
As young lively adolescents , we are sharp. We are smart. We are quick witted . We are inventive. We are ahead of our time . And so shall our milestones be .
An unexpected turning point in search of that milestone , landed me at Universal Business School , a platform granting that metamorphosis to hundreds of students from all over the world, everyday.
What made this point a niche in my changing life, was not its 50 acre campus amidst lush and rich emerald coloured mountains covered with a white sheen of clouds and rainbows all throughout the year , or the fact that it has been Endorsed by 60 leading Indian and Multinational CEO’s and driven by 30 Industry Senators  , or the World class faculty from Stanford, Anderson (UCLA), Michigan, INSEAD, SP Jain, JBIMS and IIM’s , or having the 1st in Asia - Thomson Reuters Trading Room , or being declared as the ‘5 STAR UNIVERSITY’ by INDIA TODAY for Best Infrastructure in IndiaBuilt by American Architects who have built Columbia Univ., Cornell Univ. & NYU Stern , or being Ranked in the Top 4 Pvt. B-Schools in Mumbai by Careers360 (2015) & IBJ (2014) and 7th by Times of India (2015) and  Top 4 - Truly Global B-Schools in India by TOI , or being the First Indian B-School to give an AICTE Approved International Graduate and MBA Degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK in India approved by QAA, and UK.
But what made it truly unique was beyond its accolades . It was its ability to give true justice to it’s punchline “transforming lives” and proving itself as the most promising platform for people , through its endeavours  & way of execution. After all, results speak for themselves. It made me realize that there is much more to college life than just a change . It is about climbing the ladder and unlocking the best version of your self . And I can proudly say, UBS transfigures us with those updated tools, to get that upgraded version of you.
Recently , htcampus.com had an education fair where academic experts from all corners of the world  were present to grace students with their opinions on education . Mr. Tarun Singh Anand, Founder of Universal Business School , ( also the Global Head of Strategy and Head of Sales, Asia Pacific at FXMARKETSPACE ) , kicked off the session with insights into lessons and his own experiences that students can relate to in today’s ever changing world.
“Instead of going after the conventional options, take up the road less-travelled because that’s where the chances of success are high,” he said. “People avoid taking risks due to fear of failure but failing is an important aspect of the learning process. When you take risks, you tend to put more effort.” Don’t just rely on text books. Start thinking because that’s when you actually start learning,” he said. And once again , he out-shined a number of students with his fully brimmed knowledge and captivating words.
We go about choosing a big name to connect with , only to be a small fish in the big sea. But here at UBS, I ended up being the big fish in a big sea. There are some schools that teach you how to fit in . And there are some , which teach you how to stand out!

MESMERISING EXPERIENCES
While everyone is heading back to the studious routine I am full of memories. I just celebrated my birthday in UBS. It was so mesmerising and blissful. It was 2nd September 2014 when I reached UBS for my undergraduate studies. This collage has groomed me a lot. The best part is just 170 people in 40 acres of campus so opportunities are many and grabbing them is not much of a difficulty. The result is be it public speaking, interacting with teachers, performing our arts, everyone does get a chance to come ahead and rock the floor.
Industrial visit to Volkswagen, Pune, India
Studding in the lap of nature is another blessing. The quite environment over here makes concentrate in a better way. I am slowly falling in love with this place. When it rains, there are waterfalls in our sight. This is the place where I first saw fireflies ever in my life. Being a town girl where I had everything at my beck and call while coming to collage I couldn't imagine there could be a management school inside a jungle but the experience of studding between mountains, enjoying beautiful view of stars with getting proper corporate exposure, meeting professionals and enjoying collage life as well is awesome.
Trekking;)
We are beyond lucky to get proper accommodation at this place. It never feels like we are living in a hostel. Everything well set according to our comforts in our duplexes. Each student gets a single room with attached bathroom and access to a communal kitchen on each floor. The campus itself is so good that we hardly be in our rooms.
There are a lot of reasons to fall in love with this place, and one of those is the diversity we see here amongst students. Students here are from different parts of the country so we get to learn different cultures, languages and customs. I am happy that circumstances made me reach this place. I have amazing opportunities coming my way not only to live and study but to meet people from different parts of world. Learning is continues process so getting used to such diversification in people will always be a challenge to face but that’s what this place teaches me the most. Living at such a vibrant place full of young people is something that I don’t think I will get over after my graduation. This will indeed be one blissful and unforgettable experience.
