My experience in ELC

ELC was formed with a vision to create a unique learning organization led by students to develop their business acumen and get real life business experience whilst on campus…developing leadership, organizational, managerial and business skills towards generating innovative ideas for growth and the building brand-UBS.

Being Dy. CFO of the company, it has enhanced my skills and provided me real life business experience. It made me realize the importance of time in life. It has completely transformed my personality from an amateur graduate to a corporate confidante. ELC has given me the chance to experience such a big corporate post at such a young age. It has motivated me to work harder in life to reach that level where I can call myself a CFO of a company, that everybody looks up to, after successfully completing my term in ELC. It has provided me the lifetime experience of interviewing Mr. Ridhim Desai, MD of Morgan Stanley, which would have never been possible without the support of ELC. From transforming ELC to a private limited company , to handling of accounts and cash flows, everything has been a good learning experience. I look forward to greater opportunities through this journey.

PLAY IT SAFE???

PLAY IT SAFE???

The world has changed so much in the past decade with digitization and smarter generations that the world has truly transformed into a high-tech global village. Connecting with people has become so convenient than it was possible a few years ago, we now have the same reach as any person on the Wall Street has.

As kids, we learned from our mistakes and were always taught to study so that you can earn a living for our family, study hard or else you won’t get a good college without which you won’t get a good job which will lead your entire life to be in misery.

Remember this what our parents used to say...
“You are not understanding my point right now but when you will it will be too late and you will repent not listening to me”

Most of us have been raised in such a “play it safe environment” that we don't accept change, we don't take risks
We don't try to achieve the next level!

Here's the problem...
By playing it safe you get stuck to a routine the boring monotonous routine of waking up going for your 9-5 job , wait for the 7th of every month get your salary spend and by the end of the month cry with bills pending and blaming your life, blaming your boss blaming your circumstances. Instead of you controlling your life your circumstances control your life.

Jordan Belfort once said "We are not Creatures of circumstances we creators of circumstances" Remember this!!!.

What's wrong with playing safe???

I believe life is too short to spend most of your time planning and plotting each move we take. Personally speaking, I believe to go all-out attack as a warrior what will happen you will fail? Each failure is a stepping stone towards success. Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."

But if you don't try and sit on your couch pretending it’s insane to get out there and try,
what will happen is that you will spend your life thinking of the What if’s ?

These what if's hold us back they are the barriers towards successes

To conclude I would like each and every one of you to go out there and take action instead of dwelling on what if's...
Remember to succeed work hard towards achieving your dreams there is no replacement for hard work but you will succeed only if you give it all you have with no shame of failing.
With no hesitation whenever an opportunity knocks your door grab it and work hard until you achieve what you want and what you deserve…

LIFE AT UBS

LIFE AT UBS

On 13th August 2014, I took admission in India’s first Green Business School UNIVERSAL BUSINESS SCHOOL. Here I came to know the value of many things in the corporate life and also the realities of life. In UBS I am able to learn a lot of things… I improved my communication skills, how to present myself during any seminar, presenting presentations etc. And the most special thing that I am learning here, is adopting the corporate life and work style. There is a private Limited Corporation through UBS that is run by students of the college. It has been founded by Mr. Tarun Anand. Its name is Experimental Learning Corporation and I am also a part of Experimental Learning Corporation (ELC), where I started off with the position of Vice PRESIDENT in the department of Campus tours, and now the proud CFO of the company. With the help of UBS and ELC I am able to interact with many CEOs and am able to shake hands with them. I get opportunities to know about all the guest CEO’s & MD’s personally, during the campus tour.  In UBS, almost every week we have a  guest lecture addressed by the CEOs & MDs of great big companies where they share their experiences and at the same time, also give us the knowledge that helps us on various aspects .

As a BBA student of 2nd year I am able to explore myself while becoming more responsible. We have practical learning here as well as we make teams of various departments and divide the works accordingly. It helps us to get experience in team work, improved leadership skills and decision making skills.  In UBS we also get 5-star facilities. We get very good opportunities to groom ourselves and enhance our talents. We have monthly parties too, called OCTAVE NIGHTS. It is organised by the ELC Event Management team every month, where students show their talents and in the end celebrate with a rocking after-party according to different themes.
So, study hard and party harder & enjoy every moment of college life…
                                                        ! DON’T MISS IT !

THE THINGS THAT MATTER THE MOST

THE THINGS THAT MATTER THE MOST

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We often use the phrase 'life is too short', without completely comprehending the meaning of it. But is life really short? Instead of thinking of life in terms of years, let’s visualize it in moments. From the age of three to ten, there are exactly 8 times that you have been mesmerized by the Christmas spirit and probably expected Santa to show up. When you look at life in terms of moments, it reminds you of how short it really is. Take a look at your life, and see which things you focus most of your attention on. Then think about the things that really matter to you. Do those two lists align?

The things that really matter to you should be yourself and your family. By family I mean the few people in your life who you really care about you. Definition of one’s family can differ from individual to individual. Your family's and your health and wellbeing is the only thing that really matters in the end. A lot of times we allow less important things in our life to dictate our state of mind, disturb our peace and most importantly get in the way of things that really matter.

Stop whatever it is you are doing right now. Make yourself a cup of coffee, go out for a walk and really ask yourself this question:

Are you letting things that matter the least get in the way of things that matter the most?

Take-away from UBS: From Nothing to Something
Journey started from Jodhpur:
Story of a guy from Jodhpur- Sun City who was busy enjoying his life without thinking much about his future. He got a social networking keeda in himself with no thought of how it’s going to help in future. Created different social media assets (Pages & Account).
1st love – Social Networking
What was in his mind? Nobody knew.
He tried to pursue his career in event management, then shifted to real estate & then again tried his bit in starting an ecommerce start-up which was failed due to some reason.
He realized that to be an entrepreneur is what satisfies him which eventually became his life and goal.
2nd love – The word “entrepreneur”

A thought of doing MBA came into his mind as he was told that he lacks expertise in entrepreneurship which led to his failed ecommerce start-up. He got the direction, felt motivated and started the search of a good college to fulfil his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. He got to know about a college in Karjat from a friend of his named ‘Bhawani’ who was with him in CMAT coaching. Being a nature lover he liked the place and other facilities, i.e. faculty, placements etc.
3rd love – Nature
Bhawani got to know about the college from his Brother-in-Law. We planned for the visit to college at the soonest possible time.
College: Universal Business School
He got the perfect combination for himself: Nature, Digital Marketing & CEO to guide. He became the mentee of Dean. But his life is unpredictable & he decided to stay some more time and learn on the campus, he made a shift from 1 year course to 2 years’ course-PGDM.
He became a Volunteer for Green Environment Campaign in his 1st year and got selected as General Secretary – CSR in the 2nd year. He further joined ELC-a student led corporation:
New Journey starts > Team Leader - Digital Marketing > Vice President – DM >?
Being mentee of Bibhas Sir (Dean):
He got the opportunity to handle social media of Rush4Rush- ‘The annual business adventure fest’ in 1st year.
Became digital marketing team leader for Rush4Rush in 2nd year and run a campaign, analysing & administration.
Became Mr. Rush4Rush’16.

Universal Business School made him SOMETHING FROM NOTHING.
That guy became CEO of ELC.

His name is Nirbhik Jangid.

Experiential Learning Corporation
(student led- Enterprise)

The very most common and yet unfulfilled dream of every management student. The dream is always to become most successful entrepreneur, to become the top business tycoon .every management student enters the college with this dream but the ones who actually work for the dream achieve the dream.

Here I am not talking about any training or seminars, but I am talking about the incredible initiative taken by “Universal Business School”. The school is going to put a brick of its own private limited company “EXPERIENTAL LEARNING CORPORATION”.As UBS says they have 80% practical learning this is one of them . Leaders will be no other than its own students.
The agenda of this idea is to provide an actual experience of corporate world. The students will apply all the study theories in the practical way under the same roof. They will be getting their promotions, achievements etc. they are working in the actual departments and earning a great revenue. The company has its own proper hierarchy of working. All the students went through all the corporate process when they hire their employees. The students who had applied to be a part of it were being interviewed by the main founders of the company, got shortlisted and then they were hired. The company has its own rules charter. So, the company totally works on ethics.

The company had its official bidding for the directorship of the company where only students were invited to bid. The quote of UBS – Where CEOs are made just got proved, UBS have actual directors, CEOs ,VPs working and learning both together. The enthusiasm of students is at such an extent that students have started working in the company before it get register. At the end I would like to say if you want to learn and earn, UBS is providing all opportunities to fulfill your dreams.

“B-schools are places where pebbles are polished”

When you enter into a B-SCHOOL you have fairly accurate idea concerning what you want to do with your life. Yes it’s a tough transition but this is the time that can truly make you an individual as you will be introduced to various things and get exposure of highs and lows.
During years we all  have always relied on our parents for support, but when we land up at this stage probably we will be on our own and its only us who can push our own self harder or in whichever manner we like to do.
Leaving the comfort amenities of home when I entered into UBS, I entered with a firm belief of being sensitive to my own gravity and the main thing on my head was “MY FUTURE”. Commuting from home to totally different atmosphere was a dramatic change for me.But at UBS, it makes you feel more like home & less isolated.

In no time,i felt B-schools can make you realize few things, things that are probably in common encountered by every student of a B-school.
You will be left on your own here.Their is your new found freedom and you have to make use of it wisely without losing ends. Support is always available, you just have to make a use out of it.
The most important thing you encounter is the workload, large volume of deadlines and assignments which are always piling up in front of your eyes. There will be endless nights spend studying leading you towards frustrations but as they say, things always appear better in mornings & reward for hardwork is success. Hang in there because this is just the start of a long jouney.

In that journey, you will always find people, appears to be your friend. You will make a lot of new friends. Select them with patience because your company affects your overall development.Continue to be yourself. Don’t strike a pose or play the role of someone you’re not.
As these years are the most crucial year to learn and grow. Make sure you find and explore numerous opportunities at every step. From late night studies to early morning classes, from guest lecture to campus events make sure you engross yourself in everything. Try & get to involve yourself in everything while you work towards your aim & future.

It is a time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries. It might be the beginning of your self-definition process. Going to B-school is as much about finding out who you really are as it is about getting that degree.

UNIVERSAL BUSINESS SCHOOL(UBS)
The first green business school in Mumbai. When I heard this name for first time the thing that came to my mind is that how a place in Mumbai can be so luscious and scenically green as it is the most populated city in India. Then I researched on this place and came to know that it lies in outskirts of Mumbai. A beautiful town surrounded by hills.

It’s always good to be surrounded by hills and a peaceful place to study that Universal Business School provides.
UBS becomes God’s own town in Monsoon. In monsoon it looks like UBS is heaven on Earth. It’s very beautiful and dream come true to view the scene with lots of waterfall and greenery around us.
Our professors are our mentors, who teach and guide us to enhance our management and professional skills and to learn leadership qualities. It is a residential campus we live here 24*7 as a family. Everyone helps each other whenever they are in need. It can be said that “UBS is home away from home”.

We have our own student corporation company named as ELC (Experiential Learning Limited) an initiative by BABM Students. Here we work as we would work in corporate with same designations and departments.
It’s fun to work in ELC as we work in a different manner. The hiring and firing process is different. It’s not same traditional methods followed in corporate for hiring and even also for firing. Every department have their team leader to lead their team. It helps us to learn the responsibilities and tactics of a team leader and how one can manage and motivate their team to work. We all do our work and studies with full enthusiasm and our faculty guides us for the same.
This is how’s our UBS life works. Under pressure also we find enjoyment.
One becomes emotionally attached to UBS he one steps in.
